The City of Des Moines will host an open house on October 17, 2017 to provide additional information on Phase 2 and 3 of this project. Preliminary construction plans will be available to review. City and design consultant staff will be in attendance to answer questions. View Open House Invitation.

The City took bids on Phase 1 in June 2017 and a construction contract has been awarded to Rognes Corporation. Construction of Phase 1 is anticipated to start in early August and be completed in November of 2017. Over 4,000 linear feet of new storm sewer will be installed along with new inlets. Asphalt streets will be milled and overlaid where construction occurs. View a map of Phase 1.
Final design is underway on Phase 2 with plans anticipated to be ready for bid in the Fall of 2017. Construction is anticipated to start in the Winter of 2017 and be completed in late 2018.

The Project team has submitted 60% plans to the City for review of work in Phase 1, which is located to the north and west of the 6th and Boston intersection. Additional public input will be gathered regarding the Phase 1 work at an open house in November. Plans will be available for review and discussion of possible construction impacts. Construction of Phase 1 will start in the Spring of 2017.
Preliminary design has also begun on the remaining portions of the project area with Final Design anticipated to be complete in the Spring of 2017. Construction is anticipated to start on the remaining portions of the project in the Summer of 2017 and be complete by the end of 2018.

In January, the City of Des Moines contracted the Project Team to complete Preliminary and Final Design based on the Conceptual Design Report developed in 2015. Topographic survey work is being performed by the City of Des Moines starting in January and will continue into March. Survey crews will be in the neighborhood gathering data for the design. The Project Team will begin Preliminary Design in February. Additional public input will be gathered in the Spring of 2016 between Preliminary and Final Design with construction anticipated to begin in the Summer of 2016.

The Project Team has used background information gathered from the first Open House in March 2015, along with investigations of the existing sewer system, to prepare a recommended conceptual design. Join us to learn more about the recommended concept at an Open House on October 27th, 2015.
The public open house will be held at the Polk County North Senior Center; Park Fair Mall, Suite 5; 100 Euclid Avenue from 5:30pm - 7:30pm on October 27th.
